Running for:
VP Student Affairs
About me:
Hello! I’m Vic, and I'm passionate about initiatives that promote having a good time as a student. I did my undergrad at Mac, so I'm familiar with Hamilton's campus, but also student life at Mac.
I love connecting with people, and it's been a pleasure meeting you all during iMed! I hope to be a friendly face in a crowd, so please say hi if you see me! Outside of medicine, I love to rock climb, run, or play with my dog, Holly. Balancing academics with wellbeing has slowly become second nature to me, so I hope to be a support for you all, if you’re ever in need!
I am thrilled at the opportunity to contribute to our community in such a meaningful way, and I hope to foster an environment where each one of you can thrive and become the best physicians!
My platform:
The more stressed we get, the less time we make for ourselves. As VP of Student Affairs, I want to advocate and work collaboratively with you to create meaningful improvements in our learning environment.
My goal is simple: support you during medical school, whether this means connecting you with PGME learners, organizing wellness events, or giving your opinions a voice. I will actively seek feedback from all campuses, ensure concerns are forwarded to the right people, and communicate transparently about action being taken. I’m passionate about strengthening mentorship and career exploration opportunities, and improving student awareness of available academic and wellness resources.
I strongly believe that we cannot care for others without caring for ourselves. Many of you know that I love rock climbing, which is how I prioritize my wellness. I hope that by organizing wellness initiatives and fostering communication between students, you discover how to best prioritize yourselves.
How do you plan to ensure that EDI is integrated in your role(s)?
As VP of Student Affairs, my goal is to make each of you feel included in all the fun we will have together. I’ll be honest, I can’t promise that every initiative will float everyone’s boat, but I will do my best to ensure that everyone’s opinions are incorporated.
Some of us have disabilities, many of us are at regional campuses, and we all have different ideas of what “fun” looks like. Instead of seeing these as barriers, I see the opportunity to learn perspectives that I hadn’t previously gotten the privilege of experiencing.
At the end of the day, I am human and I might make mistakes, but I am open to feedback. There are things about you that I may not know, but I am so excited to learn. I can’t promise perfection, but I promise to do my very best to support and accommodate you.
