My platform:
I strongly believe that everyone, regardless of their identities, lived experiences, or circumstances, deserves dignity and well-being. In the past, this led me to be especially passionate about gender-based violence prevention. Working as a campus consent educator and specializing in Gender Studies, I learned about the nuances of justice and how sustainable advocacy requires strong relationships where disagreement is natural. As VP EDI, I’d like to apply this through forums where everyone in our class can contribute their unique perspectives. No one, including myself, can account for every injustice alone. I’d like to focus on facilitating a community that stays open-minded to differences, where every opinion can be explored together as long as we share a goal of dignity and well-being for all. Acknowledging my positionality and privilege, I promise to stay committed to learning throughout this role, unlearning preconceived biases, and pursuing equity to the best of my ability!
