Running for:
VP External, VP EDI
My platform:
My overall vision as VP EDI is to recognize the diversity of lived experiences students bring and ensure they are represented in the academic, social, and extracurricular spheres of the UGME program. In the academic sphere, I hope to work with faculty and administration to audit the pre clerkship curriculum and incorporate EDI-focused materials or learning objectives. These materials would aim to equip students with tools or knowledge to treat diverse patient populations (i.e. recognizing visual differences of track marks in various skin tones from our very first tutorial case). Coming from Northern Ontario, I also hope to highlight challenges in rural and northern healthcare and opportunities to bridge gaps in care such as through loan forgiveness programs. I also recognize that the lived experience and positionality I bring allows me to shape the portfolio, but also to build on the work and momentum from previous VP EDIs.
