Running for:
President, VP External, VP Student Affairs
About me:
Hi everyone! I completed my undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at the University of Toronto, where I also served as Co-President of SMILE, a student mental health organization. That experience allowed me to lead a team, advocate for students, and learn how important it is to create spaces where people feel heard.
Outside of school, I love staying active and trying new things. I played competitive soccer for many years and now enjoy basketball and rock climbing. I am also a huge animal lover and the proud owner of Rex, a wild cat who keeps my life interesting. I love travelling and adventure, and one of my favourite experiences was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
I want to be part of the MMSC to help build a class that feels supportive and fun. I hope to create more opportunities to get to know each other and enjoy the experience along the way.
My platform:
As VP External, one of my priorities would be to improve how external organizations and sponsors interact with students. Our class has expressed how these interactions have left some of us feeling uncomfortable or singled out, and I believe student feedback should be used to shape what these sponsor relationships look like in the future.
I also want to make opportunities from organizations like OMSA and CFMS easier to navigate. Rather than simply passing along more information, I will find ways to highlight the events and resources that are most relevant to students.
Finally, our class has so many passionate voices, and I am so excited for the opportunity to represent these perspectives. I want to make sure McMaster students have a strong voice outside our school. As VP External, I would use my platform to ensure that the issues our class cares about are emphasized to external organizations.
How do you plan to ensure that EDI is integrated in your role(s)?
I plan to integrate EDI into my role by actively seeking input from classmates with different identities and experiences. Often, the perspectives we hear are those of people who feel most comfortable speaking up. To make it easier for everyone to contribute, I would support multiple ways for students to share feedback, including anonymous options, so that a broader range of perspectives can inform class decisions.
When planning events or initiatives, I would also consider factors such as accessibility, scheduling, dietary needs, and cultural or religious observances to make participation as inclusive as possible. I would work closely with our EDI representatives and support initiatives that reflect and celebrate the diversity within our class.
Most importantly, I would remain open to feedback and willing to adapt as needed. My goal is to help foster a class culture where everyone feels respected and comfortable contributing.
