President, VP External, VP Student Affairs

About me:

Hi everyone! I completed my undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at the University of Toronto, where I also served as Co-President of SMILE, a student mental health organization. That experience allowed me to lead a team, advocate for students, and learn how important it is to create spaces where people feel heard.

Outside of school, I love staying active and trying new things. I played competitive soccer for many years and now enjoy basketball and rock climbing. I am also a huge animal lover and the proud owner of Rex, a wild cat who keeps my life interesting. I love travelling and adventure, and one of my favourite experiences was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

I want to be part of the MMSC to help build a class that feels supportive and fun. I hope to create more opportunities to get to know each other and enjoy the experience along the way.

My platform:
Medical school can be exciting, but it can also be isolating, especially when everyone around seems to already know what they are doing. As VP Student Affairs, I want to focus on making sure students feel supported throughout the program.

One of my priorities would be to strengthen the sense of community within our class. I plan to do this by creating low-pressure opportunities to connect outside of academics. This could include organizing trips, gatherings, and drop-in activities. I would also want to streamline existing processes to make sure we are aware of how to access the resources that are available to students when they are needed.

Ultimately, I want student affairs to feel approachable and useful. Everyone in our class deserves to feel like they have the right resources, such as peers, academic support, or simply some space to decompress! As VP Student Affairs, this would be my priority.

How do you plan to ensure that EDI is integrated in your role(s)?
I plan to integrate EDI into my role by actively seeking input from classmates with different identities and experiences. Often, the perspectives we hear are those of people who feel most comfortable speaking up. To make it easier for everyone to contribute, I would support multiple ways for students to share feedback, including anonymous options, so that a broader range of perspectives can inform class decisions.

When planning events or initiatives, I would also consider factors such as accessibility, scheduling, dietary needs, and cultural or religious observances to make participation as inclusive as possible. I would work closely with our EDI representatives and support initiatives that reflect and celebrate the diversity within our class.

Most importantly, I would remain open to feedback and willing to adapt as needed. My goal is to help foster a class culture where everyone feels respected and comfortable contributing.
