Running for:
VP Finance

About me:
Hi everyone! I'm Emmanuel. Before medicine, I studied Medical Sciences specializing in microbiology and immunology at Western University, where I spent time mentoring youth, volunteering, conducting research, and helping organize student initiatives. Those experiences taught me the importance of being dependable, approachable, and following through on my commitments. I'm someone who enjoys bringing people together, listening to different perspectives, and finding practical solutions when challenges come up. Outside of school, you'll usually find me playing basketball, trying new restaurants, or spending time with friends. I'm excited to be part of the McMaster Medicine community and hope to contribute by helping make our class experience as enjoyable, connected, and memorable as possible. I'd be grateful for the opportunity to serve as your Finance VP and represent our class with transparency, accountability, and enthusiasm.

My platform:
As Finance VP, I want to make sure our student fees are used in ways that genuinely improve our experience at McMaster Medicine. Whether it's supporting student events, funding new initiatives, or helping clubs succeed, I believe every dollar should have a purpose. I'll be transparent about how money is being spent, listen to what students actually want, and look for opportunities like sponsorships to help our budget go even further. While I don't have a formal finance background, I'm organized, dependable, and willing to put in the work and connect with previous VPs to learn what I need to do the job well. Most importantly, I'll make decisions with students in mind and treat our budget with the same care and responsibility I'd expect from someone managing my own money. My goal is simple: make the most of our resources so we can make the most of medical school.

How do you plan to ensure that EDI is integrated in your role(s)?
As a Black student, creating a community where everyone feels included and supported is something that's personally important to me. As Finance VP, I'll do my best to make sure our budget reflects the needs of our entire class by supporting initiatives that promote inclusion and being mindful of financial barriers that may prevent students from participating. I'll also work with the EDI team and listen to feedback from classmates so funding decisions are thoughtful, fair, and transparent. I want every student to feel like they belong and have equal opportunities to be involved in our community, and I'll keep that in mind whenever I'm making financial decisions.
