Running for:
President, VP Indigenous Health
My platform:
Growing up as an Inuit woman from Labrador has taught me that identity is deeply personal. There is no single Indigenous experience, belief, or way of understanding health. I want to challenge us to move beyond seeing Indigenous Peoples as one group and recognize the individuality, intersectionality, and lived experiences each person carries. Indigenous health is important to me, and I want our learning to reflect that culturally safe care begins with curiosity, humility, and a conversation. My platform will prioritize working collaboratively with Indigenous students, faculty, Elders, and community partners in Hamilton and across the regional campuses to amplify Indigenous voices and advocate for Indigenous health equity throughout our education. As future physicians, we have a responsibility to understand the histories that continue to shape trust, access, and experiences within healthcare without losing sight of the individual. Every person has their own story and deserves to be treated accordingly.
